Creative workshop at Kalakriti
LIKE EVERY year this year also a creative workshop was held at Kalakriti School of Art & Culture (KSAC). Children in the age group of four to 19 years attended the event.
The workshop this year included many activities like puppet making, clay modeling, papier mâché, ceramic painting with professional ceramic colours, collage making and many more. It is worth mentioning that the artifacts made by the children in the workshop are all useable. "We specially keep this in mind while conducting the workshop because this encourages the students," says Prashanto K. Sarkar, general secretary, Kalakriti Foundation.
The use of waste material like newspapers, old rachis, cardboard and used papers is also another habit that has been encouraged at Kalakriti to tell them not to waste anything unnecessarily. Best example of this activity is the paper cllage making. The paper collage is covered with colours from the newspapers. Children given old newspaper from which they take out desired coloured paper, tear it and paste the same. The product of this is a beautiful collage. Papier Mâché at Kalakriti is also made by the waste paper or old newspaper. As always Kalakriti held an exhibition of the works of children during the workshop. This year the exhibition was held at the Madhu Vihar branch of Kalakriti. Eminent artist Paramjeet Singh was the chief guest in the occasion.
